The Connecticut Mental Health Center (CMHC), under the umbrella of the State of Connecticut, Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) is seeking a qualified individual to join our team as a Medical Records Clerk (PCN 75799). This position will support our Medical Records Department within our facility in New Haven. Find out more information on this great opportunity below!

 

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Work Schedule: Monday - Friday
  • Work Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week
  • Work Shift: First shift, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • Location: 34 Park St, New Haven, CT

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

  • Support the maintenance of medical record patient charts across CMHC’s main and satellite clinics.
  • Perform daily filing and related record‑management tasks to ensure charts remain organized and up to date.
  • Relieve higher‑level department staff of routine filing duties so they can focus on their core responsibilities.
  • Provide coverage for filing and record upkeep when medical records staff are out of the office.
  • Help maintain secure, accurate, and current medical records for thousands of patients served by CMHC.
  • Ensure all documents are filed promptly and correctly to meet federal, state, and hospital accreditation requirements.
  • Contribute to sustaining compliance by keeping medical charts updated at all times.

Please note:

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE

Two (2) years of clerical experience.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SPECIAL EXPERIENCE

One (1) year of the General Experience must have been in a medical or psychiatric environment as appropriate to the position.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in office systems and procedures including proper telephone usage and filing
  • Expereience with medical or psychiatric terminology as appropriate to the position
  • Experience with accuracy in typing
  • Experience operating office equipment which includes personal computers or other electronic equipment
