Environment and Safety 

• Create a safe and supportive environment for participants. 
• Be prepared to manage conflicts, behavioral issues, or emergencies that may arise among participants, taking appropriate actions to ensure their safety and well-being. 
• Take responsibility for designated program supplies and ensure the proper use of all facilities, including classrooms. 
• Responsible for the cleanliness and upkeep of program space. 

Program Development 

• Implement/ Facilitate project-based learning (PBL) activities that foster positive youth development, including educational programs, workshops, and recreational events when needed. 
• Be actively engaged and maintain proper supervision of students in all activities throughout the duration of the program. 

Advocacy and Community Engagement 

• Act as an advocate for youth in the community, emphasizing the significance of positive youth development and the program's impact. 
• Cultivate positive relationships with members, families, staff, schools, and community partners. 
• Collaborate with other professionals and community partners to develop a support network for young people. 

Professional Conduct 

• Maintain professional attendance, punctuality, and appearance (in accordance with BGCMQ uniform guidelines), while adhering to health and safety protocols. 
• Serve as a positive role model for youth and consistently demonstrate professional behavior. 
• Treat others with respect and kindness, valuing diversity and promoting a courteous and inclusive atmosphere. 

Collaboration and Communication 

• Collaborate effectively with colleagues and maintain regular communication with supervisory staff. 
• Actively participate in weekly staff meetings. 

Documentation and Development 

• Complete at least 15 hours of professional development to meet SACC training requirements and stay informed about best practices in youth development. 
• Participate in on-site training sessions.  
• Complete all necessary documentation and tasks (including attendance, behavior log, incident reports, and bathroom logs). 

Other Duties 

• Perform additional duties as assigned. 

Skills & Experiences

• A High School diploma or equivalent is required. 
• Minimum of 1-2 years of experience working with young people in a professional setting. 
• Strong understanding of positive youth development principles and practices. 
• Experience developing and implementing youth programs and activities. 
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
• Ability to work collaboratively with other professionals and community partners. 
• Strong organizational and time-management skills. 
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 
• Flexibility to work evenings, some holidays and weekends as needed.
