Early Childhood Services Intern
Host Organization: Child Care Resource & Referral (CCR&R)
Location: Kimberly, Wisconsin
Supervisor: Executive Director 

Position Overview
The Early Childhood Services Intern will gain practical experience supporting programs that strengthen families and the early childhood workforce in Northeast Wisconsin. The intern will assist with front desk operations, community resource support, and research projects that inform program development and community outreach. This internship is designed for students interested in early childhood education, human services, social work, nonprofit leadership, or community development.

The internship provides exposure to how community organizations support families seeking childcare, assist childcare providers with professional development and technical assistance, and collaborate with local partners to improve access to quality early learning opportunities. The internship will provide opportunities to work with families to provide concrete support and training around positive parenting support. 

Primary Responsibilities

Front Desk and Client Support
The intern will assist with the daily operations of the front office and serve as an initial point of contact for families, providers, and community members. Responsibilities may include greeting visitors, answering phone calls, directing inquiries to appropriate staff, and providing general information about available programs and resources.

Community Resource Navigation
The intern will help compile and organize resources for families seeking childcare, financial assistance, or parenting support services. They may assist staff with creating referral lists, organizing provider information, and preparing materials that help families make informed childcare choices.

Research and Data Projects
The intern will assist with research related to early childhood workforce trends, childcare access, and family needs in the region. Tasks may include collecting information from community sources, reviewing reports, assisting with surveys, and helping staff summarize findings that support program planning and advocacy efforts, as well as creating visually pleasing reports to be shared with community partners and legislators.

Program and Training Support
The intern may assist with preparation for provider trainings, family engagement events, and community outreach initiatives. This may include preparing materials, organizing resources, supporting registration processes, and helping staff coordinate logistics.

Administrative Support
The intern may assist with light administrative tasks including organizing files, preparing documents, updating resource materials, and supporting ongoing agency projects.

Learning Objectives
Through this internship, the student will:
• Develop an understanding of the early childhood system and child care infrastructure in Wisconsin.
• Gain experience working with families and child care providers seeking community resources.
• Learn how nonprofit organizations design and deliver programs that support children and families.
• Develop skills in research, communication, and program coordination.
• Build professional experience in community-based human services.

Qualifications
Preferred majors include Human Development, Social Work, Early Childhood Education, Psychology, Public Administration, or related fields. Strong communication skills, organization, attention to detail, and interest in community services are important for success in this role.

Schedule and Hours
The internship schedule will be coordinated with the student and university requirements. 

Supervision and Evaluation
The intern will receive regular supervision and mentoring from a CCR&R program supervisor. Feedback will be provided throughout the semester, and the organization will complete any evaluation forms required.
