Make-A-Wish® Southern Florida has a sole mission: Together, we create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. Started in 1983 by the Plantation Junior Woman's Club, the Southern Florida chapter has grown from granting a wish every 180 days to granting a wish every 14 hours. In its 43-year history, the organization has granted more than 15,000 wishes. Make-A-Wish Southern Florida serves children and families in 22 Florida counties in Southeast and Southwest Florida, the Tampa Bay and Suncoast regions and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The Special Events Intern will support major fundraising events and programs. During this internship you will learn to work within a team, develop oral and written communication skills, improve problem solving skills through task management, and gain knowledge of a career in non-profit field. Applicants should be self-motivated and have strong communication skills and attention to detail. Ideal for students pursuing a degree in Event Management, Marketing, Business or related fields but all majors are welcome to apply. Interns are expected to work between 15 to 20 hours a week during a 12-to-16-week period.
Primary responsibilities may include; assisting with marketing of events and fundraising programs, communicating with event sponsors and vendors, making calls to solicit for donation of auction items for events, making travel arrangements for event entertainment, researching and/or purchasing items for events, assisting the Events Team as needed at events, and providing general assistance and office support to the Special Events Team.
