Intern - Consumer Insights Scaling, Marketing Science

Facebook is looking for a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree student in a quantitative field to build scaled consumer insights projects aimed at supporting teams across the Global Marketing Solutions Organization. This role will join the Scaling Automation team, who is investing significantly in building new tools and solutions to ensure that Facebook offers the Marketing industry powerful consumer and advertising insights.
A successful candidate will be passionate about solving large data problems, have experience building processes to scale, and be comfortable in an entrepreneurial setting. The ideal candidate will combine strategic thinking, a high degree of creativity, and technical acumen to develop solutions that will be leveraged by sales and marketing teams internally and externally. This is a 12 week summer intern position based in our Menlo Park office.

Responsibilities

  • Hands-on analyst and technical program manager
  • Develop and manage internal/external consumer insights projects related to behaviors and trends to showcase insights about Facebook users
  • Work with global and cross-functional counterparts for requirement gathering and to ensure adoption and success of insights solutions
  • Discover and maintain knowledge of technical/business developments and trends and share with teams of analysts and researchers

Minimum Qualifications

  • Pursuing BS, BA or MS in Computer Science, Economics, Engineering, Math, Statistics, or related discipline graduating between Dec 2018 and Aug 2019
  • Basic experience with relational databases and of query languages such as SQL
  • Experience visualizing data using tools such as Tableau, Excel, D3, Shiny
  • Experience communicating statistical and technical concepts to technical and non-technical teams
  • Permanent U.S. work authorization as company sponsorship is not available

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree
  • Experience with retrieving and manipulating data with SQL, HQL or other query languages
  • Experience working with statistical analysis software such as R, Python, SAS , SPSS etc.
  • Experience working directly or indirectly with an advertising, marketing, or sales function in a technology organization, and an understanding of position of Facebook in the advertising space
  • Knowledge and experience implementing statistical concepts such as hypothesis testing, regression, clustering and other parametric and non-parametric algorithms
  • Experience setting priorities that solve problems and take on multiple tasks
  • Experience working in a cross-functional capacity within a dynamic, rapidly changing environment
