Marketing Intern

Marketing Intern (Unpaid) — Buckit

Location: United States Type: Internship, part-time, unpaid Duration: ongoing

About Buckit

Buckit is a live iOS app for pickup basketball players. Think of it as the social layer for the game you already play: rate the runs you're in, build your OVR, discover courts near you, and see who's actually good before you get on the court. We're a small team building something we use ourselves, and we're looking for people who already live on the court to help us grow.

The role

We need someone who's already hooping to help us get Buckit in front of more players. You'll play pickup like you normally do, get people around you on the app, and turn what you're already filming (or could be filming) into content that makes people want to download it. This is a get-your-hands-dirty role: half real-world hustle, half content creation.

What you'll do

  • Play pickup at your regular courts and bring the app up naturally with the people you're already running with
  • Get new users to download and sign up, and help them through their first few sessions
  • Shoot and edit short-form video (game footage, app moments, court culture) for Instagram and TikTok
  • Represent Buckit at your courts, gym, or campus: think flyers, word of mouth, pointing people to a QR code
  • Give us real feedback from the ground: what players like, what confuses them, what they want
  • Help scout new courts and hotspots in your area worth adding to the map

Essential skills

We're not looking for a resume full of marketing credentials. We're looking for someone who's genuinely good at basketball and has an eye for content. Specifically:

  • You can hoop. You need to be a decent enough player that you're actually out there in real runs, not just watching from the sideline.
  • You've got some creative instinct. An eye for a good clip, a good caption, a good hook. Doesn't need to be professional, just needs to be good.
  • You've dabbled in social media. Comfortable posting on Instagram or TikTok, even if it's just been for yourself. No professional experience required.
  • You're outgoing enough to talk to strangers at the gym. A lot of this job is just being a normal, like-able person on the court who happens to mention an app.

Minimum requirements

  • Currently play basketball regularly
  • Own a smartphone capable of shooting and editing short video
  • Active on at least one social platform (Instagram or TikTok)
  • Can commit a few hours a week to playing, filming, and posting

You don't need to check every box above to apply. If you hoop and you're creative, that's most of it.

What you'll get:

This is an unpaid internship, and we want to be upfront about that. In exchange, you'll get real, early-stage startup experience: shaping how a growing app grows, direct access to the founders, a flexible schedule built around when you're already playing, and a body of content and results you can point to. When Buckit takes off in your city, you'll have been part of the reason why.
