Video Production Assistant

Part-Time Video Production Assistant & Junior Editor

NYC (UWS) Private School is seeking a part-time Video Production Assistant & Junior Editor to support filming, editing, event coverage, and day-to-day video production in a busy school environment.

This is a hands-on role for someone early in their video career who is organized, reliable, technically capable, and comfortable working on-site. The role will support a range of school media needs, including interviews, events, classroom footage, athletics, admissions content, social media edits, and internal communications.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist with filming school events, interviews, classroom footage, athletics, and promotional content
  • Support camera, audio, lighting, tripod, and basic production setups
  • Edit short-form videos and basic project edits
  • Organize footage, manage files, label media, back up projects, and prepare exports
  • Assist with captions, social cuts, thumbnails, and simple versioning
  • Help prepare equipment before shoots and break down gear afterward
  • Support occasional last-minute or schedule-shifting production needs
  • Work closely with the Director of Video Production on active projects and workflows

Qualifications:

  • Basic camera, editing, audio, and lighting experience preferred
  • Strong organization and attention to detail
  • Ability to work on-site in New York City
  • Reliable, professional, and comfortable in a school environment
  • Comfortable assisting with both creative and practical production tasks
  • Interest in AI media tools is a plus, but not required

Schedule:

This is a part-time, semi remote- semi on-site position. Hours may vary depending on the school calendar, events, and production needs. Some flexibility is important.
