Communications Intern
The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) was founded in 1948 and brings together over 1,500 members (States, government agencies, NGOs and affiliates) and more than 19,000 scientists and experts from over 160 countries in a unique worldwide partnership. Its mission is to influence, encourage and assist societies throughout the world to conserve the integrity and diversity of nature and to ensure that any use of natural resources is equitable and ecologically sustainable.
IUCN US Fund is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization with the mission to build bridges between US donors and IUCN, by catalyzing, accelerating, funding and promoting IUCN’s work — conserving nature and natural resources in the United States and throughout the world. IUCN US Fund is based at the IUCN North America Regional Office in Washington D.C.
IUCN US Fund is seeking a Communications Intern to start in Summer 2026 for a period of six months to support the outreach and fundraising activities of the organization.
Supporting IUCN US Fund Communications:
- The Intern will provide support to the IUCN US Fund CEO, Senior Philanthropy Advisor, and other staff. This support could include:
- Publishing materials on the IUCN US Fund website (WordPress);
- Working with grants manager to create communications content reflecting the current project portfolio;
- Supporting the Senior Philanthropy Advisor to create communications content reflecting current fundraising campaigns;
- Co-managing the IUCN US Fund LinkedIn page, including providing proactive content suggestions, crafting content and articles, and providing recommendations for growing audience;
- Supporting communication preparation in advance of Board Meetings.
- This is a paid, part-time internship with $375 per month stipend (10 hours per week). Depending on the candidates availability and location, this position could be in-person at IUCN’s North America Regional Office, hybrid, or fully remote.
REQUIREMENTS
• Candidate must be a current student, pursing an undergraduate or graduate degree in a related field. If the candidate is pursuing an undergraduate degree, must have completed at least the first two years.
• Background and/or experience working in communication, community management, public administration, fundraising, environmental policy, or any other related field will be an asset.
• Experience using WordPress.
• Fluency in written and spoken English.
• Strong motivation and interpersonal skills; excellent communication.
• Authorization to work in the United States.
