About Ineffable Films
Ineffable Films is a nonprofit on a mission to open the film industry to emerging and underserved storytellers. We do it through mentorship, festival access, hands-on education, and community screenings, with work that stretches from San Diego to New York to a creative partnership in Bandung, Indonesia. Stories are at the center of everything we make, and we are looking for writers who love both telling them and teaching them.

The Role
We are looking for a Script & Story Intern to write for our Global Lens Film Series, our educational video series that breaks down the craft of filmmaking for a growing audience of emerging filmmakers. You will research and write short, engaging scripts that make a single technique, filmmaker, or moment in film history click for a viewer in just a few minutes. Alongside that, you will be part of a community of writers and filmmakers where you can workshop your own original stories and help others with theirs.

What you'll do

  • Research and write short scripts for the Global Lens Film Series in our warm, accessible voice
  • Turn complex filmmaking ideas into clear, fun, watchable explainers
  • Take notes and revise your drafts with feedback from our team and community
  • Support fellow writers and filmmakers by giving notes on their work in the community
  • Bring your own story ideas and original works to share and develop with mentor support

What you'll walk away with

  • Produced, published writing credits for a mission-driven film nonprofit
  • A portfolio of scripts that have reached a real, growing audience
  • Feedback on your craft from our team and a community of working filmmakers
  • A space to develop your own original writing alongside other storytellers
  • A flexible, remote-friendly schedule that works around your classes

Who we're looking for

  • A strong writer who can explain ideas clearly and make them engaging
  • A love of film and curiosity about how movies are made
  • Comfort doing light research and turning it into a tight, watchable script
  • Reliability, self-direction, and a willingness to give and take notes
  • No degree required. We care about your voice and your writing, not your resume

Your first project
Your demo is to create  a single Global Lens script on a filmmaking topic of your choice: a technique, a filmmaker, or a moment in film history that you find fascinating ad is inline with the identity of ineffable films. It is the best way for us to see your voice, and a few example scripts are linked so you can get the feel, please submit yourse once you join the community page:
