School Health Medical Assistant

Position Summary
Under the direction of a physician and/or nurse practitioner, the Medical Assistant provides patient care services for children and adolescents within MetroHealth School Health Program (SHP) clinics. This role also supports clinic operations by performing clerical, reception, and registration duties for School Health Program clinic sites.
Additional responsibilities include managing provider schedules and clinic dates, tracking clinic statistics, generating reports, assisting with patient and family outreach efforts, and supporting the coordination of multidisciplinary educational activities. Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or successful completion of a high school equivalency exam.
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
- Six months of medical assisting experience (externships included).
- One year of recent medically based clerical experience, including front-end operations (recent experience defined as within the past six months).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
- Experience collecting and managing data from various MetroHealth software systems.
- Knowledge of basic medical procedures and medical terminology.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and staff.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated good judgment, flexibility, initiative, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Cultural sensitivity and comfort working with a diverse urban population.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends.
- Reliable transportation to travel between school-based health sites, MetroHealth facilities, and other locations as needed.
Preferred
- One year of medical assisting experience (externships included).
- Two years of relevant work experience and/or additional education.
- Previous experience in Family Medicine, Pediatrics, or Adolescent Medicine.
- Fluency in English and Spanish, including reading, writing, speaking, and interpreting.
