Compensation: $20/hr

Role
The Housing Collective is seeking a Communications and Marketing Intern to support our work in Connecticut. This is a paid part-time internship, for late summer and fall 2026. The intern will be responsible for supporting the Housing Collective’s Communications Team by supporting digital communications and developing content across multiple platforms including email, social media, and web. 

Responsibilities

  • Market our events across platforms, manage registration, coordinate with speakers and attendees
  • Develop original content to promote our events and brand across social media, prioritizing IG, LinkedIn
  • Produce graphics on Canva using an existing brand kit and templates
  • Produce email marketing communications on Constant Contact using templates
  • Upload content to our website using Craft content management system
  • Assist with additional administrative tasks

Qualifications

  • Current student or recent graduate in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in a relevant field, such as communications, marketing, public policy, urban planning, political science
  • Experience in digital communications including social media, web production, email marketing
  • Strong writer: ability to adapt your writing to different platforms
  • Strong social media skills: knowledge of how to create engaging content
  • Basic design skills: ability to work in programs like Canva, Figma, or Adobe
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to produce content with rapid turnaround times (2-24 hours)

Work Environment

  • Hybrid position at the Housing Collective’s office in Bridgeport, CT
  • Candidate will receive training for tools and programs that they are not familiar with
  • 15-20 hours per week, half of which must be during business hours (9:00am-5:00pm), occasional need to support off-site events

Learning Opportunities
The Communications & Marketing intern will gain hands-on experience in nonprofit communications, including social media, email marketing, event promotion, website content management, and mission-driven storytelling. They will also learn about housing policy, homelessness response, community engagement, and nonprofit communications strategy while working with an interdisciplinary team of housing and community experts.
