Reporting to: Chief Legal Officer
Location: Miami (3 days working from the office, 2 days from home)

Background
IFPI is the global trade body for the recording industry and works closely with our member record companies. We operate within a broad range of fields covering areas such as anti-piracy, content protection, data and analysis, global charts and certifications, litigation, legal policy, international trade, licensing, technology, and communications.

IFPI's Head Office is in London, with regional offices in Brussels, Miami, Singapore, Nairobi, and Abu Dhabi, and a representative office in Beijing. We have affiliated organizations in 70 countries, including national groups and music licensing companies that represent their own regions' member record companies. With these specialist teams covering their local regions, in addition to IFPI's global remit, we are able to deploy our expertise quickly and effectively whenever it is needed

We are seeking a Senior Global Licensing Executive to join our team. 

General Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and develop the work of industry music licensing companies (MLCs) globally.
  • Work closely with record company representatives, international MLCs, and IFPI regional offices to develop:
    • MLCs’ reporting
    • benchmarking
    • tools to identify best practices and global priorities
    • performance KPIs and targets.
  • Work closely with management teams in priority MLCs to implement best practices to achieve the agreed objectives and targets.
  • Lead online and in-person workshops and working groups with MLCs to share knowledge and identify and disseminate best practice, including creating best practice guides and documents.
  • Working on regional and global Performing Rights Committee (PRC) meetings in Europe, Asia, Latin America and Sub-Saharan Africa, including preparing panel discussions and presenting to groups of between 50-150 C-level executives.
  • Developing new markets and ensuring compliance with the IFPI Code of Conduct and Standard Distribution Principles for MLCs.
  • Working alongside the Head of Global Licensing Analysis to utilize the financial and other data submitted to IFPI by MLCs to develop and monitor effective strategies to increase collections and improve operations.
  • Working with IFPI’s Legal Policy team to develop strategies to improve licensing in various territories around the world.

Requirements

  • At least five years of experience in business development, strategy and/or licensing
  • Studies and experience in the following areas: economics, accounting, data analysis, or finance.
  • Ability to develop and manage partnerships across different cultures and nationalities
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across teams, disciplines, and cultures
  • Proactive, self-driven, highly motivated, analytical and possess strong business acumen
  • Excellent presentation skills, with a working knowledge of Excel, MS PowerPoint and general computer systems.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Spanish, including report writing to high technical standard
  • A good understanding of the international copyright framework, relating to musical works and sound recordings would be helpful
  • Some international travel would be required. Desirable
  • Experience in the entertainment or creative industries and/or in the collective management.
