Words have power — and so does the right video at the right moment. Luminare Press is a publishing company on a mission to connect readers with stories that matter, and we’re looking for a creative, digitally fluent intern to help us bring that mission to life on screen and across social media. If you love storytelling in all its forms and have a sharp eye for editing, we want to hear from you.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
What you’ll do
- Edit short-form and long-form marketing videos for book launches, author spotlights, trailers, and campaigns
- Produce and refine advertising content tailored for digital platforms (Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, LinkedIn)
- Assist in developing and executing a coherent social media strategy aligned with Luminare Press publishing goals and seasonal calendars
- Collaborate on content calendars, scheduling posts, and tracking engagement metrics
- Contribute creative ideas for growing our audience and amplifying author voices
- Support the team with light motion graphics, captioning, and basic sound mixing as needed
Where you’ll work:
Initial work and filming for marketing in our beautiful and picturesqe offices near downtown. Editing and production can be done remotely.
REQUIRED SKILLS
Must-haves
- Proficiency in video editing software (Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, or equivalent)
- Strong understanding of social media platforms and their distinct content formats
- An eye for pacing, composition, and visual storytelling
- Reliable, self-directed, and able to meet deadlines with minimal supervision
- Portfolio or work samples demonstrating video editing skills
PREFERRED BUT NOT REQUIRED
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with motion graphics or animation (After Effects, Canva Pro)
- Familiarity with social analytics tools (Later, Sprout Social, Meta Business Suite)
- Passion for books, literature, or the publishing world
- Copywriting or caption-crafting skills
- Basic photography or graphic design background
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
You don’t need to be a seasoned professional — you need to be curious, creative, and committed to quality. This role is ideal for a student, recent graduate, or emerging creative who wants real-world experience in publishing marketing at Luminare Press. We envision 10 hours a week, but hours vary based on campaign cycles and project needs, making this a great fit for someone who thrives with flexible, project-based work.
How to apply
Send your résumé, a brief note of interest (why you and why publishing?), and links to 2–3 video projects you’ve edited to Luminare Press at [marketing@luminarepress.com]. Applications without a portfolio or work samples will not be considered. We look forward to seeing your work.
