UX/UI Designer Intern
UX/UI Designer Intern / Contract Designer
alfred_ is building an AI personal assistant for email, calendar, tasks, and daily work. Our mission is to help people stop holding their entire workday in their head by giving them a smarter, calmer, more action-oriented command center.
We are looking for a talented UX/UI designer who is excited about designing AI-native products. This role is not just about making screens look better. We need someone who can think deeply about how people interact with AI assistants, how complex workflows become simple, and how software can reduce cognitive overload instead of adding to it.
You will work directly on key parts of the alfred_ product and brand experience, including our homepage, landing pages, blog pages, dashboard interface, email/calendar/task experiences, and individual widgets. You should be comfortable designing clean, modern interfaces that feel intuitive, trustworthy, and polished.
What you’ll work on
You will help design and improve:
Our homepage and marketing pages so new users immediately understand what alfred_ does and why it matters.
Blog and content pages that make alfred_ feel credible, modern, and thoughtful.
The main alfred_ dashboard experience, including layout, navigation, interaction patterns, and visual hierarchy.
AI-native widgets for email, calendar, tasks, notes, reminders, alerts, and daily planning.
Interfaces for AI workflows, such as “text me when an important email comes in,” “turn this email into a task,” or “summarize what needs my attention.”
Design systems, reusable components, and visual patterns that make the product feel consistent across web and mobile.
What we’re looking for
Strong product design taste and attention to detail.
Experience with Figma or a similar design tool.
A modern design sensibility, especially around consumer apps, AI products, SaaS dashboards, mobile apps, and iOS-style interfaces.
Ability to simplify complex workflows into clean, obvious user experiences.
Interest in AI-native design, including chat interfaces, proactive assistants, automation flows, alerts, summaries, and personalized dashboards.
Strong understanding of spacing, typography, hierarchy, color, layout, and component systems.
Ability to think from the user’s perspective, not just the visual layer.
Comfort working in a fast-moving startup environment where designs may be tested, shipped, revised, and improved quickly.
Nice to have
Experience designing productivity tools, AI tools, dashboards, email clients, calendar tools, CRMs, or workflow automation products.
Basic understanding of frontend development, especially React, Tailwind, shadcn, or component-based design.
Experience creating landing pages, blog layouts, or marketing assets.
Ability to create lightweight prototypes or interaction flows.
Interest in startups, personal productivity, executive assistants, AI agents, or the future of work.
Who you are
You are someone who obsesses over making software feel simple. You care about the tiny details, but you also understand the larger product story. You are excited by the idea that AI interfaces should not feel like old software with a chatbot slapped on top. You want to help define what an AI personal assistant should actually look and feel like.
You should be comfortable asking questions like:
What should the user see first?
What does the assistant know?
What should happen automatically?
When should the assistant interrupt the user?
How do we make this feel powerful without making it overwhelming?
How do we build trust in an AI product?
Why join alfred_
You will get to work directly on the core product experience of an early-stage AI startup. Your work will not sit in a folder. It will shape the actual product, website, dashboard, and user experience that real users interact with.
This is a great opportunity for someone who wants meaningful ownership, real product impact, and the chance to build a portfolio around AI-native consumer and productivity software.
To apply
Please include your portfolio, Figma links, personal website, or examples of past design work. If you have redesigned an app, built a product concept, designed a dashboard, or explored AI interfaces, we would love to see it.
