Controls Field Engineer
Scope of Work: As an HVAC Controls Field Engineer you are responsible for providing job site oversight for installation of Building Automation Systems & Controls. Your supervision is critical to the success of our contracting controls business: installation, programming, system integration, functional testing, commissioning, and owner-training for a building automation system. You will collaborate with Design Engineers, System Integrators and Programmers to ensure that projects are delivered on time and fully functional.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise installation of electrical subcontractors
- Assist in trim and terminating field devices (e.g. sensors, actuators, etc.) as required
- Perform Point-to-Point verification
- Perform functional testing to verify sequence of operations
- Perform commissioning of customer graphics
- Document of Field Verification and Testing
- Owner Training & Operational Demonstration Presentation
- Troubleshooting hardware & software (e.g. field program controllers, network Integration of controllers, etc.)
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies.
- Understand project scope and execute duties in timeline required
- All other duties assigned
Qualifications + Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
- B.S. Mechanical Engineer, Electrical Engineering or a related field
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on practical solutions that exceed client expectations
- Excellent people skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trust with internal and external stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a demanding environment
- Working knowledge using Microsoft 365 suite + Visio + Bluebeam + Niagara Workbench

Work Environment: Thermosystems LLC main office is in Elmhurst, IL. Main warehouse is in Romeoville, IL. Shared workspace is in Chicago, IL. Field work with exposure to various working conditions, including mechanical rooms, rooftops, and outdoor settings with regular use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to safety protocols in commercial buildings within Chicagoland (k-12 Schools, Medical Office Buildings/Hospitals, Institutional, etc.).
