New York Project Lead
Location: New York City (with some remote flexibility)
Role Type: Contract-Based
Start Date: July 2026
Reporting to: Ashley La Fond, Founder
Organization: Of Space and Mind
About Of Space and Mind
Of Space and Mind is a growing home organization and lifestyle company focused on creating spaces that make everyday life feel easier, calmer, and more functional. We work closely with clients to bring thoughtful systems, elevated organization, and real-life practicality into their homes.
As we expand our New York presence, we’re looking for someone excited to grow with us.
About the Role
This role is perfect for someone early in their career who’s eager to learn fast, take ownership, and get real experience inside a growing startup.
As the New York Project Lead, you’ll work directly with the founder to help manage client projects across the city. You’ll be onsite leading projects, coordinating teams, communicating with clients, and making sure every detail keeps moving forward. No two days look exactly the same.
We’re looking for someone who’s naturally proactive, highly organized, and good with people. Someone who notices what needs to happen before being asked. Someone who thrives in fast-paced environments and is excited by the idea of building something—not just clocking into a job.
You’ll get hands-on exposure to operations, client services, project management, hiring, marketing, and the day-to-day reality of scaling a business.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and support client projects from start to finish
- Serve as the main point of contact between clients
- Lead and manage an onsite team of project assistants
- Keep timelines, logistics, and communication running smoothly
- Manage project assistants during onsite work days
- Problem-solve quickly and keep momentum moving
- Help support team growth in the New York market
- Assist with social media, content, and brand communication projects
- Contribute ideas, systems, and improvements as the company grows
What You Bring
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- A self-starter mindset and willingness to jump in
- Clear communication and a positive, professional presence
- Ability to stay calm and adaptable in fast-moving environments
- Interest in startups, operations, client services, or entrepreneurship
- Previous internship, hospitality, marketing, or leadership experience is a plus, but not required
Why This Role Is Different
This isn’t a traditional entry-level role where you sit back and observe. You’ll be trusted with real responsibility from day one and work closely with the founder as we continue building the New York side of the business.
For the right person, it’s an opportunity to learn quickly, grow fast, and gain experience across multiple areas of a startup environment.
Compensation & Commitment
- Rate: $60-65K
- Approximately 35–42 hours per week
Work Style & Expectations
This is a freelance role with flexibility outside of client work. We care more about ownership, communication, and follow-through than rigid schedules.
You’ll be expected to:
- Be available for projects and consultations across NYC, Brooklyn, Jersey City, and Hoboken
- Join weekly team check-ins (virtual and/or in person)
- Travel within tri-state area to deliver client work
- Travel occasionally to New Jersey for training and collaboration
- Stay responsive, organized, and proactive across multiple projects
We’re looking for someone who brings energy, initiative, and momentum—and is excited to grow alongside a small but expanding company.
