Production Assistant - Harvard Athletics
Job description
Harvard University Athletics is looking to hire video production assistants, to work in all aspects of game-day broadcasts of Harvard's 42-sport varsity program.
Applicants must be current undergraduate or graduate students at local area colleges, or recent college graduates. The position begins on a rolling basis and continues through the 2026-27 academic year.
The production assistants will work as part of the game-day video production team, operating technical equipment to produce and broadcast the video board shows, online international streams and TV productions during Harvard athletics events.
Equipment used includes broadcast video switcher, slow-motion instant replay machine, audio mixer, broadcast HD cameras and on-screen broadcast graphics equipment. The complete productions are broadcast on national and regional TV networks (ESPN+ and NESN), as well as streamed online to ESPN+, and displayed on venue video boards.
Production assistants will work during football, basketball, ice hockey, lacrosse, baseball, softball, wrestling, volleyball, water polo, swimming & diving, field hockey, rugby, track and field, rowing, tennis, skiing, fencing and soccer games, as well as other events as needed. Work will be on a rotating basis, with the average production assistant working 1-2 games per week, for a total up to 14 hours per week.
Potential opportunities to work postseason, external or special events such as Ivy League Championships, NCAA Championships, Hockey Beanpot at TD Garden, Baseball Beanpot at Fenway Park or Ski Carnivals in New Hampshire may also become available.
Work assignments are decided at the beginning of the season, based on each person's availability.
All production assistants will receive technical training at the beginning of the season on proper operation of all the equipment, and will gain hands-on experience in video productions, game-day productions and sports broadcasting.
Average games are 3-6 hours (with setup and breakdown times).
