Community Leader

TL;DR

DEION is a platform that helps people discover and support diverse and underrepresented businesses through local discovery, commerce, events, visibility, and community engagement.

We are looking for Community Leaders who want to help grow DEION within their city by building authentic relationships with businesses, founders, creators, organizers, and local communities.

This is NOT a traditional sales position.

Community Leaders act as DEION's local eyes, ears, and relationship builders within their metro area.

You will spend time meeting business owners, learning their stories, connecting them with DEION resources, and helping strengthen the local business ecosystem.

You will gain firsthand exposure to entrepreneurship, small business operations, marketing, networking, community building, and local economic development while helping DEION grow.

What You'll Be Doing

Responsibilities may include:

- Introducing businesses, restaurants, brands, creators, and organizations to DEION
- Building authentic relationships with business owners and community members
- Helping business owners understand how DEION works
- Connecting interested businesses with a DEION Onboarding Expert
- Conducting short business interviews and story-gathering conversations
- Learning how businesses operate and documenting insights that help tell their story
- Gathering photos, video, and content opportunities when appropriate
- Representing DEION at farmers markets, festivals, community events, and activations
- Supporting local DEION meetups and events
- Helping identify businesses, creators, and organizations that align with DEION
- Helping consumers discover businesses through DEION
- Gathering feedback from businesses and local communities
- Helping strengthen DEION's visibility and presence within your city

Business Story Interviews

One of the most important parts of this role is learning about the businesses that make your community unique.

Community Leaders may conduct short interviews with business owners to learn:

- Why they started their business
- Their entrepreneurial journey
- Their biggest challenges
- What makes their business unique
- Their connection to the local community
- Products, services, or menu items they are most proud of
- Advice they would give future entrepreneurs

These interviews help create authentic content that supports local discovery, storytelling, and visibility for businesses on DEION.

No professional journalism experience is required.

Training and interview guides will be provided.

- Building ongoing relationships with businesses already active on DEION

Compensation

Community Leaders are compensated for helping build and support DEION's local business ecosystem.

 

Ongoing Business Revenue Share

Community Leaders may earn ongoing profit-sharing from businesses they help activate and manage on DEION.

For qualifying businesses, Community Leaders may receive up to 33% of DEION's platform profit generated from those businesses.

This creates an opportunity to build a portfolio of local business relationships that can continue generating compensation as those businesses grow and succeed on the platform.

The objective is to reward long-term relationship building, not just introductions.

 

 

Business Story & Activation Bonus

Community Leaders earn $25 for each business that:

- Creates a DEION account
- Completes an onboarding meeting with a DEION Onboarding Expert
- Completes a short business interview with the Community Leader

These interviews help DEION better understand, represent, and promote local businesses while creating valuable storytelling opportunities for the business owner.

 

 

Events & Activations

Community Leaders may receive additional stipends for approved:

- Farmers markets
- Festivals
- Community activations
- Networking events
- DEION-hosted events

 

 

Featured Business Incentives

Additional bonuses may be available for helping businesses participate in Featured visibility programs and other DEION growth initiatives.

 

 

Growth Opportunity

As DEION grows, Community Leaders may gain access to additional opportunities involving:

- Events
- Sponsorships
- Partnerships
- Content creation
- Community leadership
- Metro-area coordination

Compensation structures may evolve as DEION continues to grow.
