About REC

REC is a mobile app that helps people discover and recommend great service professionals in their community, such as yoga instructors, fitness instructors, bartenders, nail technicians, and other local professionals.

Think of it like Yelp, but for people instead of places.

REC is currently built with:

  • Flutter — mobile app front end
  • Ruby on Rails — backend
  • React JS — admin/control panel
  • GitHub — code management and collaboration

Role Overview

We are looking for App Developer Interns to help improve and grow the REC mobile app. Depending on experience, interns may help with mobile UI, backend/API work, bug fixing, testing, admin panel improvements, GitHub workflow, and App Store update support.

This is a great opportunity for students interested in mobile app development, startups, UI/UX, backend systems, and real-world product experience.

Responsibilities

  • Help test the REC iOS app and identify bugs or usability issues
  • Provide feedback on app design, user experience, and onboarding flow
  • Assist with improving app screens, layouts, and user interactions
  • Help review user flows for service professionals creating profiles
  • Assist with frontend mobile development using Flutter if qualified
  • Assist with backend/API work using Ruby on Rails if qualified
  • Assist with admin/control panel improvements using React JS if qualified
  • Help brainstorm new features and product improvements
  • Work with the founder and development team on app updates
  • Use GitHub to review, organize, and track development work

Ideal Candidate

  • Student studying Computer Science, Software Development, UX/UI, or a related field
  • Interested in mobile apps, startups, and product development
  • Familiar with one or more of the following: Flutter, Dart, Ruby on Rails, React JS, APIs, databases, GitHub, Firebase, or mobile app development
  • Detail-oriented and comfortable giving product feedback
  • Creative thinker who enjoys improving how apps look and feel
  • Reliable, communicative, and self-motivated
