Nonprofit management intern

Interested in gaining career experience in international development? We can provide you with new skills and experience to help you explore the field.

If you are an undergraduate or graduate student with an interest in Egypt or the Middle East, a desire to make a significant contribution, and an interest in being an integral part of a small but committed team, join Hands Along the Nile Development Services (HANDS), where you will gain hands-on experience in international development and NGO management. As an intern, you will be helping to contribute to the peace and stability of the Middle East by supporting development work in Egypt and educational exchange and dialogue programs in the US.

HANDS is a growing non-profit organization that focuses on empowering the people of Egypt through job-creation efforts, healthcare, and civil society capacity building. We work directly with local organizations in Egypt on projects that include job-skills training, entrepreneurship coaching, and leadership training. HANDS also works closely with US-based partners such as: the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, USAID, the Ford Foundation and the U.S. State Department.

The intern in this position will be reporting directly to our Executive Director, assisting with:

  • donor communications
  • fundraising event planning
  • writing fundraising appeal letters and annual reports
  • representing the organization at online or in-person events

We are flexible on the starting and ending dates of the internship and can adjust to fit our interns' schedules. We are looking for someone who can work about 15 hours per week during the summer. Also, please note that we are open to either in-person or remote internships.

A stipend is provided.
