Summer STEAM Teacher

Pay: $18.00 - $30.00 per hour

Overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic and creative STEM Teacher to join our summer teaching team. The ideal candidate will bring a passion for technology education and the ability to guide elementary students through the exciting worlds of 3D printing and Scratch coding. This role requires patience, creativity, and a hands-on approach to inspire young learners to think like engineers and programmers.

Schedule: July 13 – August 21 | Monday – Friday | 1:30PM to 5PM

Responsibilities

  • Implement engaging lesson plans that meet curriculum standards and cater to diverse learning styles
  • Create a supportive classroom environment that encourages student participation and fosters a love for learning
  • Guide students through the iterative engineering and design process from concept to finished 3D print
  • Lead students in building their own games and animations using Scratch
  • Assess and evaluate student progress through various methods, providing constructive feedback to support academic growth
  • Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and administration to promote student success and address any challenges that arise
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and performance metrics

What We're Looking For

3D Printing

  • Experience with Tinkercad and Onshape for 3D modeling and design
  • Working knowledge of STL files and the 3D printing workflow
  • Strong understanding of iterative engineering and design thinking principles
  • Ability to teach 3D modeling and printing concepts to elementary-age students in a hands-on, project-based format

Scratch Coding

  • Experience using Scratch with a strong ability to create games and animations on the platform
  • Ability to teach block-based programming, computational thinking, and problem-solving concepts to elementary-age students
  • Creativity in designing fun, project-based lessons that keep young learners engaged

General

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Design, Education, or a related field (or equivalent hands-on experience)
  • Patience and enthusiasm for working with elementary-age students
  • Passion for STEM education and a commitment to fostering an inclusive classroom environment

Work Location: In person
