Purpose:
- To support the Human Resources Department in pre-hire, recruiting, onboarding, and benefits enrollment activities. This experiential learning will integrate knowledge and theory learned in coursework with practical human resources skills.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Complete onboarding checklist activities to prepare new hires for orientation.
- Review and process candidate’s drug screen results through organization’s corporate eScreen account to verify an absence of illegal drug usage, complying with OSHA and company policy.
- Contact and evaluate three references for each candidate through phone calls and/or emails to verify work history performance.
- Complete a Goldsheet (located on Whistle) to communicate hire date, pay rate, position, department, and manager information. Send this Goldsheet to respective managers for signatures, and request for managers to send signed copies to the Goldsheet email.
- Send welcome emails to new hires by including welcome and offer letters, job and benefits descriptions, and I-9 forms to extend official job offers to new hires.
- Print each new hire’s job description and offer letter to include in new hires’ orientation folders.
- Prepare orientation folders with necessary, pre-selected paperwork for all new hires to review.
- Create and print name tags using myAvery software to attach to new hires’ orientation folders.
- Assemble orientation bags for all new hires with 7-8 Wilmington Health branded products per bag to distribute on the last day of orientation.
- Record all new hires’ login information (email addresses and passwords) in a Word Document to email the Training Specialist so he/she can provide login information during orientation.
- Email an orientation roster formatted in a Word Document that includes names and job titles of all new hires to the Training Specialist, Recruiting Specialist, and HR assistant to complete preparation for orientation.
- Process, verify, and maintain new hire documentation to keep employee records up-to-date.
- Enter employee Volunteer Certifications in GP and scan the file into corresponding employee’s file located in the shared HR drive.
- Update Position Control using GP with the directions provided in the Training Manuals folder located in the shared HR drive.
- Respond to candidates and new hires with questions about required documentation and new hire orientation.
- Phone interview candidates on an as-needed basis with Recruiting Specialists’ approval.

Qualifications:
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
- Enrolled in or completed four-year degree program
Preferred:
- Strong interest in a human resources career
- Experience with Microsoft Office (I.e. Excel, Outlook, Word)
