The City of Kettering’s Finance Department is recruiting to fill the temporary part-time position of Tax Intern. This position reviews income tax returns for completeness and accuracy; enters W-2 and tax return data into the tax software; answers telephone inquiries; opens mail; scans and/or indexes tax documents into a document management system; identifies new taxpayers through review of utility listings and new resident listings. Training will be provided for all duties assigned, including use of the Tax Division’s income tax software and document management system, procedures for the review of income tax returns, requirements of the City of Kettering Income Tax Code, and other office procedures.
Qualifications:
The Tax Intern will have knowledge and expertise with computers, good organizational skills, mathematical accuracy, and good data entry skills. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work well with others and project a positive image to the public. Must maintain confidentiality of all tax records. Course work in federal taxation is a plus.
