Engineer - Building Automation 

Locations: Amarillo, Austin, Dallas, College Station, Houston, Galveston, San Antonio & Waco 
Employment Type: Full-Time, Salary + Bonus Plan 
Salary Range: $65,000 – $85,000 annually + performance bonus & company vehicle

Job Description 

Deliver complete control system designs based on contract documents and/or scope, ensuring accuracy, approval, and completion within budgeted time. This design serves as the foundation for installation, programming, graphic development, commissioning, training, and O&M’s. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Develop/design Building Automation Control documents (drawings, wiring diagrams, system architecture) per contract documents (plans/specifications) 
  • Produce accurate controls submittals that comply with contract documents 
  • Capture and update field changes, create as-built drawings 
  • Prepare accurate project documentation and manuals for system operation  

Qualifications 

  • Associate degree in Business Administration or equivalent experience (Bachelor’s in Engineering preferred). 
  • Strong financial acumen and organizational skills. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Building Automation Systems (BAS): 

  • Design, configuration, programming, and troubleshooting of BAS, including HVAC, lighting, and energy management systems 
  • Understanding of electrical systems, wiring, circuits, sensors, actuators, controllers, and control logic; ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics 
  • Familiarity with BACnet, Modbus, DNP, IEC61850, and Ethernet; basic understanding of networks and communication protocols 
  • Experience with automation software platforms, and proficiency in programming languages (Python, C++, Java, or similar)  
  • Commissioning new control systems, diagnosing and resolving hardware/software issues, and optimizing  
  • Preparing technical documentation, as-built drawings, commissioning records, and manuals
