Development Associate
Position Description
Range of $28-32 per hour
The Development Associate is responsible for providing key support for HPC fundraising efforts. Reporting to the Development Director, the ideal candidate is creative, interacts easily with a wide range of individuals, and has strong technical, organizational, and communication skills. Success in this role will require good interpersonal instincts to interact with volunteers and donors, aim to raise awareness about HPC efforts in the general community and among donors, and will provide essential administrative support to ensure timely and effective delivery of agency fundraising efforts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Supports the Development team in achieving fundraising and communication goals for priority initiatives, annual giving and special funding opportunities.
Provides logistical support for donor events including, but not limited to creating timelines, identifying activities, tracking and coordination guest response, catering, mailings and follow up correspondence.
Supports social media and online efforts, with monitoring daily activity and assisting with general posts as directed.
Conducts donor research and donor list expansion and assists with planning for cultivation and stewardship efforts.
Fields inquiries from prospects/donors and follows up with prospective development volunteers.
Provides administrative support for calendar scheduling, agendas and notes and general administrative support as needed.
Creatively explores new list opportunities to expand existing mailing database.
Pitches in as available to support HPCs ongoing activities.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree desired or two to three years’ experience in a non-profit organization or business working in fundraising, communications, sales or marketing. Office experience preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong time-management and organizational skills.
Demonstrates a professional demeanor whether speaking to others in person, over the phone, via email or through letters.
Works well alone as well as under direct supervision.
Has prior experience working in a database, or comparable experience.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Has the ability to work flexible work hours and occasional weekends as needed for events.
