Off-Broadway Theater Marketing & Development Intern
Position Overview
Lamb to a Lion Productions is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Theater Development & Marketing Intern to support the growth and visibility of an award-winning playwright’s body of work.
This role focuses on strategic submissions, outreach, and grant support—helping ensure that theatrical projects are consistently being submitted to the right theaters, artistic directors, festivals, and funding opportunities.
The ideal candidate has a genuine love for theater and storytelling, combined with strong organizational and research skills.
Key Responsibilities
Theater Submissions & Outreach
- Research and identify appropriate theaters, artistic directors, and development programs
- Compile and maintain organized databases of contacts and opportunities
- Assist with outreach to theaters and artistic leadership
- Format and submit plays to festivals, competitions, and development programs
- Track submissions, deadlines, and responses
Grant Research & Support
- Identify relevant grant opportunities for theatrical work
- Assist in preparing and submitting grant applications
- Support grant writing using structured templates and AI-assisted tools
- Track grant deadlines, submissions, and outcomes
Database & Systems Management
- Build and maintain organized submission trackers and contact lists
- Ensure all opportunities and submissions are clearly documented
- Help streamline and improve submission workflows
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is:
- Passionate about theater, playwriting, or the performing arts
- Highly organized and detail-oriented
- Comfortable with research, writing, and structured tasks
- Reliable and able to manage deadlines independently
- Interested in theater development, arts administration, or dramaturgy
- Strong written communication skills
Bonus:
- Interest in marketing or creative promotion
- Familiarity with theater festivals, submissions, or grant processes
- Comfortable using tools like Google Sheets, Notion, or similar
