Youth Ministries Administrative Intern
Job Summary:
The Youth Ministries Administrative Intern will support the mission of First Free Methodist Church in caring for at-risk youth by handling key administrative tasks, managing resources, and coordinating outreach with community partners. This role provides valuable experience in nonprofit administration, ministry support, and networking with local organizations, social workers, and community partners. In addition to office-based responsibilities, the intern will engage once a week at Wednesday night youth group, offering direct connection to the students and coordinating volunteer logistics. The schedule is flexible, apart from the required attendance at the youth group on Wednesday nights. The internship is eligible for adjustment to meet university or graduate school internship/credit requirements.
Essential Functions:
- Communicate clearly with the direct supervisor through end-of-day updates and progress reports.
- Coordinate and communicate with volunteers for youth events, driving, and meals, including maintaining a “Kids in Crisis” donor communication channel.
- Attend one youth ministry event per week to connect directly with students and volunteers and gain hands-on ministry and volunteer coordination experience.
- Perform church front-desk and other administrative tasks, such as answering the phone, responding to emails, tracking donations, and ordering groceries.
- Cross-check and streamline communication about First Free Youth that goes out to volunteers, Sunday school classes, and the church at large, sustaining consistent communication about youth ministries.
- Create and strengthen connections with local nonprofits, social workers, and community partners under the guidance of the Youth Ministries Director.
- Research and complete independent projects to support youth ministry as needed (including, but not limited to, grant writing, compiling information on community services, etc.)
- Maintain an organized and well stocked youth room, restocking study materials, activity supplies, and pantry items weekly.

- Reliability, consistency, and initiative in completing assigned tasks promptly.
- Readiness and curiosity around creative problem-solving and internet-based research.
- Ability to distill information and communicate key points for varying audiences.
- Preference for applicants with interest in nonprofit/business administration and/or work with at-risk youth.
