Human Resources Intern

Kickstart Your HR Career in a Hands‑On Manufacturing Environment this summer!


Job Summary/Overview
The HR Intern will work over the summer to support the Human Resources team in delivering effective people‑focused services within a fast‑paced manufacturing environment. This role assists with recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, training coordination, and HR administration. The ideal candidate is organized, curious, and eager to learn how HR functions in a production setting.

Work Schedule

Monday - Friday 

8:00am - 4:30pm 

Part time hours are available prior to the end of the school semester

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain appropriate confidentiality in dealing with company and employee information
  • Maintain files and employee records
  • Provide exceptional customer service to our business units and employees
  • Learn about benefits, compensation and payroll at Columbus McKinnon
  • Gain overview of the Talent Acquisition process. Learn about sourcing, review resumes, schedule interviews, and learn the full-cycle recruitment process
  • Assist the HR team with employee onboarding 
  • Create reports on the HR-related process when required
  • Address queries and issues of workers when required
  • Assist the HR team in organizing special events
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities

  • Understanding the value of customer service in the HR environment
  • Understanding of Human Resources practices and terminology
  • Basic understanding of labor legislation and employment laws
  • Working knowledge of MS Office or database systems, HRIS
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage and handle multiple tasks
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Strong work ethic
  • Good time management skills
  • Ability to work independently

Required Qualifications

  • Must be a rising junior or senior enrolled in a full-time Bachelor’s degree program for human resources or a related field. 
  • Valid drivers license preferred.
