Investigative Researcher for Biotech/T1D
Looking for a part-time investigative journalist or scientist who is interested in preparing a deep-dive report on cutting-edge medical biotech.
This person will work on the JDCA to prepare a comprehensive report on the capabilities and technology of a specific company that claims to be advancing toward a T1D functional cure.
The skills needed:
- Perseverance & persistance
- Ability to understand / an interest in medical research. Interest in T1D a plus but not required.
- Ability to explain and write about complex topics in a simple and clear style, which allows anyone to understand the big ideas
- An interest in getting to a really deep understanding, well beyond the jargon
- Comfortable making telephone calls; comfortable talking with people with deep expertise (such as a scientist)
- Self-starter (this is not a ‘coast’ assignment)
- Organized and thorough
- A person comfortable in being clear about what is known, what is speculation, what is unknown
Timetable:
- To start as soon as possible
Duration (Expected):
- 3-4 weeks part time
Location:
- Remote. Check in by video conference.
Deliverables:
- Develop a project brief and align with the organization's Exec. Director
- Make a thorough list of all sources and people contacted
- Keep accurate notes and summaries of findings
- Provide bi-weekly updates to Project Leader (at least 1 in person by video)
- Compile findings in a polished PowerPoint presentation and/or a Word document
- All findings must be fully sourced
- May include a presentation to JDCA board members and/or board chairman
