Are you passionate about leading a dynamic high school ministry where every 9th-12th grader discovers their purpose and develops faith that lasts a lifetime? Asbury Church is seeking a Director of High School Students to join our Students & Young Adults Ministry. Asbury is a unique church in Tulsa with a rich, 60-year legacy in the traditions of the church coupled with a Senior Pastor committed to doing everything it takes to reach the next generation. 

The Director of Asbury High School Students equips and encourages 9th – 12th grade students to develop an authentic relationship with Jesus Christ. This position is responsible for creating disciples by connecting with high school students, parents, and volunteers while developing dynamic, ministry-focused programming that shapes students and leaders into lifelong followers of Christ.

Requirements for the position:

  • Be a committed follower of Jesus Christ, seeking to know, love and serve God.
  • Model behavior that aligns with Asbury’s Ministerial Employees’ Mission Statement.
  • Must be an active member or become an active member of Asbury Church.
  • Must have vision and a demonstrated ability to plan, develop, coordinate, manage and implement student ministry within the parameters of a theologically conservative church.
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in the field of Christian ministry. Some additional Wesleyan theological training preferred.
  •  5+ years leading a mid to large size youth program.
  • Experience leading a student ministry team and volunteers.
  • Understand how to reach today’s youth and the courage to make hard decisions for the best of Asbury’s Student Ministry.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work quickly.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with students, parents, volunteers, and ministry staff including speaking to large groups or meeting one on one.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Self-motivated team player who can work independently.
  • Adapt quickly to change and new situations.
  • Ability to motivate and lead a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office. 
  • Maintain strict confidentiality in all circumstances.
  • Demonstrate the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment while serving others.
  • Ability to work with all levels of clergy, leadership, and staff effectively.
  • Ability to use social media to capture moments that share the mission, joy, and life transformation taking place in the ministry.

Work Environment:

This safety-sensitive job operates in a ministry-related office environment as well as other settings and environments with staff, volunteers, and children. The noise level in the work environment varies from moderate to loud. The employee may come into contact with childhood diseases and blood on occasion. 

Time commitment for the position:

  • Full-Time, Sunday – Thursday, 40+ hours/week. In addition, some weekends throughout the year are required for camps/retreats/mission trips.
