Videographer & Editor
Basic Job Details:
- Videographer and Editor.
- Full time employment.
- Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
- Compensation: Dependent on skill level/experience.
- On-site position.
Responsibilities:
Short-Form Content
- Film and edit short-form vertical content for:
- TikTok, Instagram/Facebook Reels, YouTube Shorts.
- Capture day-to-day shop moments, builds, teaching moments, and personality-driven content
- Typically 3-4 hours a week of filming for short form.
- Will not be responsible for idea conceptualization and posting.
Long-Form YouTube Content
- Assist with filming long-form woodworking builds and other shop content.
- Help storyboard and structure videos
- Edit 10–30 minute YouTube videos.
- Help improve watch time and overall production quality.
- Bulk of time will go towards long-form content. Number of monthly deliverables will depend on the size of video project. Some videos will take 1 day to shoot. Some will take up to a full week.
Paid Ad Creative
- Film and edit video ads for all paid ad creative. Primarily for Family Furniture Co. May also include content for additional brands under The Southern Craftsmen.
- Test hooks, formats, and messaging angles.
- You would be working alongside our full-time marketing staff member to help generate ideas/concepts and execute.
- Typically takes 2-3 hours of filming time per month.
Production & Media Management
- Manage camera gear, lighting, audio, and file organization.
- Maintain a consistent content calendar
- Assist with batching content days
- Organize footage and backup media properly
Other Misc Requirements
- Provide the primary camera for shooting long-form video along with all additional gear required to shoot basic youtube content. Short-form content can primarily be shot on an IPhone or DJI Osmo Pocket 3.
- Must demonstrate an ability to switch between shooting video and editing/planning throughout the day.
- Be on time and ready to work at 8AM.
- Able to work on your feet for a full 8/Hr day filming.
- Desk/space will be provided and additional resources/gear as-needed.
- In-house and on-site role. Occasional opportunities to work remote and edit off-site as needed with approval.
- Ability to occasionally work over-time to hit content deadlines.
- Occasional assistance with photography for organic social media and paid ad content.
What We’re Looking For:
- 2+ years experience in videography and editing
- Strong editing skills (Premiere Pro, Final Cut, or similar)
- Experience editing short-form social content
- Understanding of hooks, pacing, retention, and storytelling
- Ability to move quickly and hit deadlines
- Self-starter with high ownership mindset
- Comfortable working in a workshop environment
Bonus:
- Experience creating viral content
- Experience shooting product ads
- YouTube optimization knowledge
- Photography skills
- Basic motion graphics (After Effects or similar)
This Role Is NOT For Someone Who:
- Only wants to shoot cinematic slow-motion footage
- Needs constant direction
- Struggles with fast-paced environments
- Doesn’t understand social media performance
What Success Looks Like
- 3–5 short-form posts produced per week (minimum)
- 2–4 long-form YouTube videos per month
- Ongoing testing and iteration of paid ad creatives
- Improved retention and engagement metrics across platforms
- Elevated overall production quality
