HUMAN RESOURCES COORDINATOR
(PERCENTAGE TIME – 40%)

Starting Salary: $17,152.23 per year
This is a percentage-time position working two days per week. This position accrues some pro-rated benefits, including Paid Time Off, Extended Medical Leave, and Holidays.
JOB OVERVIEW: The purpose of this position is to perform administrative tasks and services to support effective and efficient operations of the human resource office. Acts as front-line support for the Human Resources department and coordinates all office employment programs and activities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Posts job announcements online. E-mails to County Departments and various companies and colleges.
- Verifies degrees using Degree Verify for potential new hires and County Employees.
- Performs E-Verify checks to ensure that new hires are eligible to work in the United States.
- Runs MACHS background checks for police records of potential new hires.
- Enters Supervisor Incident forms, discipline records, and Commendations in MUNIS/HRIS system.
- Runs report for random drug testing and coordinates with vendor quarterly. Schedules drug testing for new hires and random drug tests for current employees. Sends random list to DSI quarterly. Tracks results.
- Generates report list for quarterly Mental Health Check-ins. Coordinates with necessary departments and monitors results.
- Plans and coordinates Employee Assistance Program training courses.
- Coordinates DOT/DFW trainings twice per year.
- Assists new hires with completing new hire tasks and benefit enrollment.
- Schedules and administers Clerical tests, Dispatcher tests, and Appraiser tests for job applicants.
- Makes ID badges for employees and vendors.
- Resets passwords for employees to access Self Service Portal.
- Enters position requisitions and set up position files as needed.
- Answers requests for employment verifications.
- Pays all Department bills.
- Orders Department supplies.
- Monitors HR email account.
- Answers, screens, and directs telephone calls.
- Assists customers and employees.
- Prepares correspondence, documents, and reports as necessary. Copies and files documents as needed.
- Serves as a backup for entering employee personnel actions.
- Schedules interviews.
- Receives and distributes or routes departmental mail.
- Assists with benefit change and enrollment as needed.
- May assist at Job Fairs.
- Tracks referrals for the Employee Referral Program. Order awards for those qualified.
- Gathers information and reports to send to lawyers for subpoenas for County Employees as needed.
- Runs Birthday Report for newsletter monthly.
- Runs Service Award report twice a year.
- Updates Job Status Hotline weekly.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Education
- A high school diploma or equivalent. Associate's degree preferred.
- Job experience
- 3 years of human resources experience in progressive organization or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities will be considered.
- Employment is contingent on successfully passing a full criminal background check.
