About the Organization

New Muses Project imagines a future where justice and curiosity lie at the heart of classical music scholarship, performance, and education. We believe that open- mindedness, awareness of intersectionality, and desire for depth of understanding are keys to success. We encourage persistent and radical efforts to tip the balance in this white-cis-male dominated field.

NMP’s flagship endeavor is our website, which features an interactive hub for exploring composers and their music. When you tell us a composer you like, we’ll give you a recommendation for a composer we think you’ll love. You’ll be introduced to them with a brief biography, hand-picked recordings, and links to scores and resources. Additionally, New Muses Project has released professional album recordings, organized performances, presented research at conferences, and published rare music editions to dramatically increase the visibility of these composers’ works and lives.

NMP is at a pivotal stage of development, transitioning from bootstrapping with fiscal sponsorship to becoming an independent nonprofit organization with an extensive and ambitious mission. In addition to continuing to build a track record of equitable and innovative initiatives, NMP is excited to release this call for hires for the position of Software Engineer.
