Development Operations Intern

Mission: 

Woodwell Climate Research Center (Woodwell Climate) conducts science for solutions at the nexus of climate, people, and nature. We partner with leaders and communities for just meaningful impact to address the climate crisis.

Summary: 

Join the Center’s 2026 Summer Internship Program as an Intern on the Development Operations team. As the Center prepares for a fundraising campaign, learn more about how we ramp up for this exciting endeavor. The intern will be trained on technology needed to engage in projects focused on fundraising prospect research, writing briefing materials and donor bio sketches, data entry and data clean up. Interns will be supported through challenging assignments, receive and provide feedback, and contribute to our organization's success. 


 

Responsibilities may include, but not limited to: 

  • Provide data clean-up for our contact lists and general clean-up of inactive and incomplete data fields in our fundraising database, Raiser's Edge (RE) 
  • Update prospect records in RE with notes, addresses, and fundraiser assignments
  • Upload archival documents to respective records 
  • Conduct research on prospects including screening for wealth and connections to Woodwell Board members 
  • Write and edit background information and documents
  • Standardize event naming conventions 
  • Network with professionals in field of interest, including mentors, managers and other interns 
  • Develop and enhance skill sets within chosen scientific and/or operational programs
  • Participate and learn about the Center’s scientific disciplines and operational programs through staff meetings and other employee engagement activities


 

Must have the following knowledge, skills and abilities: 

  • Experience or familiarity with databases 
  • Strong communication (written, verbal and interpersonal) 
  • Problem solving skills and ability to make decisions under pressure
  •  Willingness and ability to work independently and as part of a team 
  • Open to receive guidance from experienced professionals and learn new techniques and tools 
  • Knowledge or willingness to learn Microsoft Office and/or Google Workplace
  • Experience working within a nonprofit a plus 

Qualifications: 

● Enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program or recent graduate ● If hybrid, must have access to reliable internet/wifi 


 

Work Environment: 

The functions of this role are conducted indoors 

Hours of Work: 

● This role is paid on an hourly, non-exempt, basis. 

● Typically, part-time employees work less than 20 hours during a Monday through Friday workweek.

Desired Start Date: Monday, June 8, 2025 through August 14, 2025 

Classification and Compensation: This is a full-time, temporary, hourly, non-exempt position, the salary is $15/hour. Internship will not exceed more than 90 days. 

Location: Falmouth, Massachusetts Onsite or Hybrid (3 days/week)
