ABC News Social Media Intern, Summer/Fall 2026


Job Description

About the role & program:

ABC News is seeking a creative, detail-oriented, and digitally savvy Social Media Intern to join our team. This is a unique opportunity to work closely with high-profile talent, producers, and digital teams to help shape how ABC News & Good Morning America stories are told and shared on social media, specifically across TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, X and Threads.  This hands-on, fast-paced opportunity ideal for someone passionate about digital storytelling, breaking news, and social media.

 

This intern will play a key role in supporting the production of social-first content across 24/7 digital platforms, with a focus on ABC News handles.

 

This internship is a full-time, six-month commitment in the New York, New York area from June 2026-January 2027.

 

What you will do:

Design daily news graphics

Support the development and editing of social-first videos

Participate in brainstorms, research, and pitching creative ideas

Help track trends on social media and audience engagement

Collaborate with producers and editors across TV and digital

 

Required Qualifications & Skills

Previous experience (academic or internship) in journalism (print or broadcast or digital); television, news and news media production; and/or television news script writing; social media management

Video editing experience including editing videos using Adobe Premiere, creating graphics using Canva and Photoshop and writing captions for all social platforms using SEO best practices

Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills

 

Education:

Junior or Senior year required

Major or previous coursework in Communications and Journalism, or related major preferred

 

Eligibility Requirements & Program Information

Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements:

Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class at time of application OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship.

Current Disney Interns, College, International, or Culinary Program Participants: You may only work for ONE consecutive year (12 months) in any combination of an internship and/or program.

Be at least 18 years of age

Possess unrestricted work authorization

 

 Additional Information

Able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship

Fully available from June 2026 through January 2027

Fully available from Monday through Friday, primarily, and occasionally nights and weekends for the duration of the internship, 40 hours each week

Able to provide own housing for the duration of the internship program in the New York, New York area

Able to provide/have reliable transportation to/from work
