Job Title: Editorial & Content Intern SB Magazine
Location: Shreveport, LA Duration: 3-6 Months Commitment: 10 hours per week
We are looking for a highly organized, creative, and detail-oriented intern to join our editorial team. As a monthly magazine, our pace is a unique blend of long-form planning and high-energy production weeks. You’ll be an integral part of the storytelling process, helping us craft content that resonates with our audience.
Key Responsibilities
- Content Creation: Research and write short-form pieces for the "front of book" sections, including news briefs, product roundups, and event listings.
- Fact-Checking: Act as the final line of defense by verifying names, dates, quotes, and statistics to maintain the magazine’s journalistic integrity.
- Editorial Support: Assist editor with transcriptions, interview scheduling, and maintaining the editorial calendar.
- Digital Integration: Repurpose print stories for our website and social media channels, ensuring SEO best practices are met.
- Production Assistance: Participate in brainstorm sessions for future issues and assist on-site during photo shoots or local events.
Qualifications & Skills
- The Basics: Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of a Journalism, English, Communications, or Marketing program.
- The Pen: Exceptional writing and storytelling skills with a firm grasp of AP Style.
- The Eye: A keen eye for detail—you spot a typo from a mile away.
- The Tech: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace. Experience with Adobe InDesign, WordPress, or Canva is a major plus.
- The Vibe: A self-starter who can work independently but isn't afraid to ask questions. You should thrive on deadlines and "big picture" creativity.
