What to expect as an intern at Markey’s

Markey’s St. Louis provides support for a wide variety of events including corporate meetings, fundraising galas, political rallies, graduations, and music concerts. As an intern, you'll get a chance to work with and observe professionals in your industry. Our primary focus during each show is to ensure complete client satisfaction. Many times, this means making quick last-minute adjustments and dealing with the unexpected. We look for interns who can adapt on the fly, calmly navigate stressful situations, and provide superior customer service at all times. As we observe your progress, we'll provide you with time to familiarize yourself with our gear and increase your opportunities for hands-on real-world experience.

The Mentor Matrix

While at Markey’s St. Louis you will be under the supervision of a rotating list of assigned mentors. Each week you’ll be paired with a different team member, giving you a glimpse into the different specialties that go into show production. In this manner, you’ll not only get real-world experience in your particular field, you will also gain a basic working knowledge in all the technical fields Markey’s services: audio, video, lighting, staging, scenery, and soft goods. Additionally, each mentor can give personal insight into their experiences in the industry.

You will also get an opportunity to partner with the production management staff which oversees our technicians and coordinates with our end clients to ensure shows go smoothly and that they are completely satisfied with our services. During this time, we hope you will gain insight into the non-technical administrative and managerial opportunities available in the AV industry.
