Broadcast Technical Support Engineer

Bitcentral is seeking a Technical Support Engineer to join our team in Newport Beach, California. Our engineers provide support to television stations across the country, troubleshooting both software and hardware issues.

Position summary:

Technical Support Engineers are responsible for responding to and resolving client technical issues in a timely, efficient, and professional manner. Responsibilities also include documenting all issues, performing technical troubleshooting, providing root cause analysis and resolution, and creating knowledge base articles. Requirements:

· Ability to provide excellent customer service while managing multiple phone calls and email correspondence

· Strong communication skills

· Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedural documentation

· Ability to track and report discrepancies

· Advance knowledge of current window operating systems: (Windows Server 2012, 2016, 2019, 2022, 2025 etc.)

· Advanced experience with Sony switchers, NRCS, NLE systems, AWS, macOS, Windows, and Linux

· Experience with SQL and MySQL

· Working knowledge of broadcast electronic equipment, including theory, design, and maintenance

· Knowledge of television production, postproduction, studio operations, and remote production environments

· Strong understanding of IT infrastructure and data networking as it relates to broadcast environments

· Adaptability and efficiency are essential qualities for success in this role

· Schedule flexibility required, including on call support, weekends, and holidays

 

 

Responsibilities:

· Ability to perform advanced troubleshooting and resolve hardware and software issues through phone and email communication

· Communicate effectively with clients to determine root cause and the appropriate course of action

· Work closely with news staff to coordinate and improve production workflows and formats

· Report to the Technical Support Engineer Department Manager

· Perform proactive maintenance and inspections on servers

· Analyze equipment configurations to optimize hardware and software performance

· Configure and install software and hardware on client servers through remote connections using VPN

· Maintain an understanding of video sources, graphical keys, monitor graphics, and other elements of news production

· Identify and correct potential issues early to prevent operational impact

 

Education and Certifications

· Associate degree in Computer Science preferred, or equivalent work experience

· MCSE certification (Preferred)

· A+ certification (Preferred)

· HP certification (Preferred)

· Network+ certification (Preferred)

· MCP certification (Preferred)

 

Job Type: Full-time Remote

· Hours: 4 Day / 10hr shift, including one weekend day (Daytime and Overnight Shifts Available)

· Salary: $22.00 to $25.00 /hour
