Development Intern

American High's Development Internship consists solely of reading scripts and writing coverage in order to help our creative team determine which high-school comedy scripts we receive are worth producing.

If you're unfamiliar with coverage, it refers to the act of writing a critical assessment of each script that you read based on a template we provide via Google Form. Questions that are consistently asked about each script include, but are not limited to:

  • Would you pass, consider, or recommend this movie for production?
  • What would you give it from a 1-10 overall?
  • How would you rate its characters, structure, comedy, and dialogue from a 1-10?
  • Provide comments to explain exactly why you feel the way you do toward the script.
  • Provide a logline and synopsis for each script.
  • During which season(s) does the script take place?
  • During what length of time does the script occur?
  • What percentage of the script takes place in a high school?
  • Are the characters of high-school age?

This internship is entirely remote and can be accomplished as an experiential-learning opportunity or for school credit.

If you're interested in joining our program, please follow the link to submit your application in our Academy website's portal. The AH team will review all applications by late April and confirm internships for those who secured the position.

Best of luck with the application process!
