The Latin American Health Alliance (LAHA) is a dedicated non-profit organization based in Central Massachusetts, focused on improving the health and well-being of underserved communities, particularly Latinx population. We provide culturally sensitive addiction recovery services, healthcare access, and educational support. As Director of Development, you will drive LAHA’s entire fundraising strategy, from federal grants to individual donors, and play a direct role in sustaining programs that transform lives in the Latinx community.
You will work closely with the Executive Director, receive strong organizational support, and have the opportunity to build and grow LAHA’s development infrastructure from a position of meaningful influence.
The Role:
The Director of Development is responsible for leading LAHA’s fundraising strategy and resource development efforts to advance the organization’s mission and ensure long-term financial sustainability. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, this position is responsible for all grant writing, grant management, and individual and corporate fundraising activities.
Your Leadership Impact:
• Own LAHA’s full fundraising portfolio: federal and state grants, foundation funding, corporate partnerships, individual donors, and special events.
• Serve as the primary relationship manager for funders, board members, and community stakeholders, elevating LAHA’s visibility and credibility across the region.
• Partner directly with the Executive Director to set annual revenue goals, inform strategic planning, and report to the Board of Directors on development progress.
• Shape how LAHA tells its story: translating mission and program outcomes into compelling narratives that drive funding and community engagement.
Grant Writing and Management:
• Lead the full grant lifecycle, including prospect research, proposal development, submission, reporting, and compliance for federal, state, foundation, and corporate funders.
• Write and edit compelling, high-quality grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and reports that clearly articulate LAHA’s mission, programs, outcomes, and community impact.
• Maintain a comprehensive grants calendar and manage all deadlines for submissions, required reports, and funder correspondence.
• Collaborate with program directors, finance, and the Executive Director to gather data, narratives, and budgets needed for grant applications and post-award reporting.
• Ensure compliance with all funder requirements, including grant terms, allowable costs, and programmatic deliverables in coordination with LAHA’s financial management team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:
Grant Writing & Management
• Lead the full grant lifecycle including prospect research, proposal development, submission, reporting, and compliance for federal, state, foundation, and corporate funders.

Fundraising & Donor Relations
• Develop and implement a comprehensive annual fundraising plan that includes grant funding, individual giving, major gifts, corporate partnerships, and special events.
• Identify and cultivate relationships with new and prospective individual donors, foundations, and corporate funders aligned with LAHA’s mission.
• Manage donor stewardship activities including acknowledgment letters, impact updates, and personalized engagement strategies to strengthen long-term donor loyalty.
• Plan and execute fundraising events and community engagement activities that support donor cultivation and organizational visibility.
• Maintain and update donor database (CRM) to track gift history, pledges, grant status, and prospect pipeline.
Strategic Planning & Reporting
• Partner with the Executive Director to set annual revenue goals and monitor progress against fundraising targets, adjusting strategies as needed.
• Prepare regular reports for the Executive Director and Board of Directors summarizing fundraising activity, pipeline status, and grant compliance.
• Support the development of organizational case statements, program impact data, and communications materials that reflect LAHA’s mission and outcomes.
• Research emerging funding opportunities and sector trends in behavioral health, SUD treatment, and Latinx health equity to inform prospecting strategies.
Community & Board Engagement
• Support the Board of Directors in their fundraising roles by providing training, materials, and strategies to engage their networks in LAHA’s development efforts.
• Represent LAHA at community events, funder meetings, coalitions, and networking functions to raise awareness and strengthen external partnerships.
• Collaborate with program staff and the Executive Director to identify community needs that can be addressed through targeted fundraising and new program development.
QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, Communications, Public Health, or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of progressive experience in nonprofit fund development, including demonstrated success in grant writing and donor relations.
• Grant Track Record: Proven success securing grants from federal, state, and foundation funders, particularly in behavioral health, public health, or human services.
• Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to craft compelling narratives for diverse funder audiences.
• Organization: Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines and concurrent funding cycles simultaneously.
• Technology: Proficiency with donor database/CRM systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Commitment: Deep commitment to health equity, cultural humility, and LAHA’s mission of serving the Latinx community.
• Collaboration: Experience working with executive leadership, finance teams, and boards of directors.
Preferred Qualifications
• Master’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Public Health, Public Administration, or a related field.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish (speaking and writing) strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with federal grant programs such as HRSA, SAMHSA, or DPH funding streams.
• Experience with CFRE certification or formal fundraising training through AFP or similar professional bodies.
• Prior experience in a community health center, behavioral health, or social services nonprofit environment.
