Assistant Aquatics Director – Camp Old Indian Scout Camp
Position Overview
The Assistant Aquatics Director is responsible for leading and managing the Aquatics Program at Camp Old Indian Scout Camp. This role ensures all aquatic activities comply with Scouting America policies and standards, promoting a safe, engaging, and educational environment for campers and staff.

Qualifications & Certifications
Candidates must meet the following minimum requirements prior to employment:
- Minimum Age: 18 years
- Membership: Must be a registered member of the Boy Scouts of America

- Standard First Aid & CPR
Key Responsibilities
Program Management & Compliance
- Oversee all aquatic activities, ensuring alignment with Scouting America standards.
Staff Leadership
- Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate Aquatics Program staff.
- Foster a positive, safety-conscious team culture.
Facility Oversight
- Maintain cleanliness and safety of aquatics facilities, grounds, and restrooms.
- Report maintenance needs to the Program Director.
Record Keeping & Reporting
- Ensure accurate documentation of camper and staff aquatic advancement.
- Submit weekly reports to the Program Director.
- Prepare a comprehensive end-of-season report including:
- Final inventory
- Staff evaluations
- Challenges encountered
- Recommendations for future improvements
Essential Functions
Rescue & Safety
- Physically capable of performing aquatic rescues and responding to emergencies.
- Strong auditory awareness for incident response.
Aquatic Skills
- Proficient in swimming, lifesaving, canoeing, rowing, kayaking, and related activities.
- Able to perform routine first aid and sustain extended periods in aquatic environments.
Leadership & Assessment
- Monitor and assess camper and staff behavior for safety and appropriateness.
- Enforce safety protocols and manage emergency procedures.
- Plan and execute engaging aquatic activities.
General Duties
- Serve as a role model, upholding the Scout Oath, Law, Motto, and Slogan.
- Maintain accurate records including inventories and safety documentation.
- Collaborate with other camp departments and participate in camp-wide events.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Program Director or Camp Director.
