Are you an organized, detail-oriented, and proactive individual eager to learn how sponsorship sales and operations help drive business growth within California’s life science industry? Biocom is seeking a Sales and Business Development Intern to support company-wide sponsorship initiatives in our San Diego office while gaining hands-on experience in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
With the goal of supporting sponsorship growth across the life science community, this multifunctional internship provides practical experience in sponsorship sales operations, prospect research, and pipeline management. You’ll learn how strategic partnerships are identified, documented, and executed by supporting Salesforce tracking, sponsorship agreements, deliverables, and invoicing, all while gaining insight into how a leading life science organization builds and sustains revenue-driven relationships.
What You’ll Be doing
Find & Qualify Sponsorship Leads - Research potential sponsor companies, build prospect lists, and follow up on inquiries to help identify strong sponsorship opportunities.
Use Salesforce Like a Pro - Learn how to track real sales activity using Salesforce by logging outreach, updating records, and helping keep the sponsorship pipeline organized and up to date.
Support Sponsorship Agreements & Deliverables - Assist with sponsorship agreements and help track deliverables to make sure sponsors receive the benefits they signed up for.
Help with Invoicing & Tracking Payments - Generate sponsorship invoices, monitor payment status, and help flag any issues—learning how the financial side of sponsorships works behind the scenes.
Build Professional Communication Skills - Draft emails, support outreach efforts, and collaborate with our teams while developing strong organization, follow-through, and confidence in a fast-paced business environment.
What we are looking for:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Business admin, Communications, Sales Operations, Management, or a related field.
- College Graduate looking for real world experience.
- Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent
Strong Communication & Relationship Skills
- Clear, confident written and verbal communication
- Professional email etiquette and comfort engaging with external partners
- Ability to listen, ask thoughtful questions, and tailor messaging to different stakeholders
Sales Mindset & Coachability
- Curiosity about how deals are sourced, positioned, and closed
- Willingness to learn, take feedback, and iterate quickly
- Resilience and comfort with outreach, follow-ups, and rejection
Organization & Attention to Detail
- Ability to track leads, sponsorship assets, timelines, and deliverables
- Strong follow-through and reliability in meeting deadlines
- Tech-savvy! Proficiency in MS Office Suite is a plus, comfort working with CRM tools, spreadsheets, and event-related data.

Hours: Part-Time 24-32 hours/week (Monday through Thursday, can be flexible)
