About IP Sponsored Internships at IAEA-

Internships at the IAEA provide students and recent graduates the opportunity to gain practical work experience in their field(s) of interest as well as benefit the activities of the IAEA.

Assignment Duration and Qualifications:  IP-sponsored internship assignments are one year in length. Individuals are eligible to participate I the program if they are 20 years or older, a U.S. citizen and have completed at least three years of full time university studies. Graduates may apply up to one year after completion of their bachelor’s, master’s or doctorate degree.

Benefits:  1) Round-trip airfare to Vienna or the relevant duty station; 2) One-time settling-in grant in the amount of US $2,000; 3) monthly stipend of 1,200 euros; 4) free medical insurance.

Main Purpose-

·         To support the development of the VETLAB or Laboratory Information System (LIMS) – basic modules (structure and performance of veterinary diagnostic laboratories):

o   Organized storage of entity records (laboratories, authorities, field services);

o   Organizes storage of personal records;

o   Organizes storage of laboratory procedures;

o   Links to other activities of the laboratories.

·         To support the development of the event tracking module;

·         To support the development of the laboratory module;

To support the development of geo-visualization tools for all three modules of the VETLAB information platform/LIMS information platform.

Qualifications/Competencies-

·         Advance degree in biotechnological sciences;

·         Very good understanding of data processing using Windows-based software (MS Excel, MS Access);

·         Basic understanding of the concept of database structuring;

·         Basic understanding of organization in diagnostic laboratories;

·         Basic understanding of geo-visualization procedures.
