We are seeking a highly creative, platform-native short-form content creator who understands how musicians grow in 2026 — not just how to film, but how to convert attention into audience.
This is a freelance contractor role (5–10 hours per week) with strong potential to grow into a long-term Head of Content position.
Role Overview
You will collaborate directly with artists and producers to conceptualize, film, and edit short-form content optimized for:
- Instagram Reels
- TikTok
- YouTube Shorts
You must understand the structural dynamics of high-performing music content: hook strategy, pacing, storytelling, identity building, and conversion mechanics.
The role is primarily remote, but you must be available in Los Angeles at least two weeks per month to plan and film content with artists.
Responsibilities
- Conceptualize short-form video ideas tailored to individual artists
- Film and edit short-form content (performance clips, studio content, narrative content, trend adaptations, promotional videos)
- Collaborate on content calendars and rollout strategies
- Advise on creative direction for artist branding within social formats
- Adapt content for hybrid organic + paid strategy
- Assist in shaping high-impact release campaigns
Future Growth (Optional Expansion):
- Posting and account management
- Performance analytics and reporting
- Paid campaign execution (Meta, TikTok Ads Manager)
- Funnel strategy integration (streaming conversion, audience building)
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience creating short-form video content for musicians
- Strong understanding of Instagram and TikTok algorithm behavior
- Ability to identify strong hooks within first 1–3 seconds
- Portfolio that demonstrates creativity, pacing, and narrative instinct
- Comfort working with both iPhone-style and higher-production setups
- Ability to work independently while collaborating strategically
Preferred (Bonus) Qualifications
- Experience running paid ads via Meta Ads Manager or TikTok Ads
- Understanding of music release strategy and streaming growth
- Familiarity with audience targeting and digital marketing funnels
- Basic motion graphics experience
- Film school or digital media background
Compensation
$40–$55 per hour depending on experience.
Performance-based bonuses available based on measurable growth and campaign success.
Long-term growth path available into part-time or full-time Content Director position.
