The Application Developer is responsible for all aspects of web application, integration and API environments across the University. Position requires technical versatility and creativity to deliver solutions that serve the University community. The Application Developer will leverage strong programming abilities and excellent communication skills to improve university processes and contribute ideas, solutions, and energy to a high-performing, motivated team. This position requires occasional evening and weekend hours.
Responsibilities:
• Assist in the management of all aspects of the university's software development, web application, integration, and API environments.
• Develop web applications using ASP.NET, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, and other web programming tools and techniques.
• Develop interfaces for internal and external systems using web services.
• Design and develop software tools to ensure effective and efficient use and delivery of services and information between enterprise systems.
• Partner with Business Analysts to evaluate business processes, assess needs, identify key challenges, and define user requirements.
• Complete other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree required; Major in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent.
• One to three years of experience developing web applications required.
• One to three years of experience with relational database management systems required with a preference to MS SQL Server.
• Experience interacting with multiple systems, cross platform development, and web services/APIs
• Native UI design on desktop operating systems and mobile app development experience for iOS and Android desired
• Higher education experience desired.
Technical Skills:
• Solid technical background in designing, developing, and integrating applications using C#, Python, SQL, and RESTful APIs.
• Solid understanding of object-oriented design principles.
• Solid understanding of web application development processes, from the layout/user interface to relational database structures.
• Experience with HTML5, CSS, and web application development libraries and Saas/Paas platforms.
• Familiarity with Git for version control and comfort using GitHub to manage code repositories and collaborate on projects.
• Proficiency with Visual Studio for .NET development.
• Blazor Server experience strongly preferred.
• AI and LLM experience desired.
