Digital Transformation Intern
Digital Transformation Intern
Just Results is a tech startup with a product called ZForm that makes paperwork painless. Our approach grew out of the founder’s work in Morocco during an effort to streamline bureaucracy in order to attract investors. The basic idea: why is it so easy to order something online, but such a headache to deal with government portals (and some university portals)? It doesn’t need to be.
We separate out what we call the “front office” – your user experience when you need something – and the “back office” – administrative tasks, decisions, etc. that take time and can be complex if regulations are not clear. ZForm is a front office web app accompanied by informational website(s) and optional back office modules.
Today, ZForm is live in all fifty states and the territory of Puerto Rico for farmers who wish to quickly register with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) in order to access programs and resources. We are working on other applications of the product, such as ZForm for business (for processes like hiring consultants and filling out tax forms) and ZNotary.
We are looking for a highly motivated intern who can work 20–30 hours per week during the school year and full-time in the summer. A highly strategic focus area for this internship is the automation of several key preproduction processes using a closed artificial intelligence (AI) environment. You will get in on the ground floor of a highly focused AI application that will help our company reduce time and costs from research to production.
You will also have the chance to rotate through all areas of the company, including:
- Research – Focused on agriculture in the United States. For farmers and ranchers, what types of paperwork are their biggest headaches, and with whom do they interact when seeking services?
- Preproduction – Identifying forms used by federal and local government agencies, developing data dictionaries, defining user journeys, and contributing to our effort to automate the process. May involve travel to Texas, North Carolina, New York State, Arkansas, Puerto Rico, or other locations.
- Design and User Experience (UX) – Work with our specialists to develop user flows and test them in the field. Familiarity with Figma is a plus.
- Software Development – Participate in regular tech standups and interface with front- and back-end coding teams and the product manager.
- DevOps – Support decisions and implementation related to server location, deployment techniques, security protocols, etc.
- Quality Assurance (QA), Quality Control (QC), and Continuous Improvement – Test and review versions of the app, close the loop to ensure bugs and errors are fixed, and work toward continually improving performance and user experience.
The characteristics we are most interested in seeing from candidates are:
- Interest in learning and experimenting with digital tools, especially AI
- Attention to detail and the ability to understand complex legal and regulatory language (needed for developing user journeys to fill government forms)
- A social and personable disposition, with the ability to relate to people from all walks of life
Please send your application directly to Priti Mathur at priti@zform.co. It should contain:
- A cover letter explaining why you are interested in the position and what you bring to it
- An updated resume
- A work product. This can be an article you’ve written, a website or app you’ve created, a video, a piece of artwork, or whatever you choose. Your work product should be easy to understand and demonstrate attention to detail. It may be related to any topic.
Be sure to specify in your application whether you are interested in:
(1) Spring only
(2) Spring and summer
(3) Summer only
Deadline for spring only or spring and summer: March 15.
Deadline for summer: March 31.
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, so submit yours early.
Internships will run March–April–May and/or June–July–August, with time included (especially during summer) for 1–2 weeks of vacation or multiple flexible weekends.
The internship is in person in Washington, DC at our co-working space, Open Gov Hub (13th & Massachusetts Ave). A stipend of $1,500 per month is provided to help defray costs.
