Business Analyst

Business Analyst 

Location: Columbia, MD (Onsite) 
Duration: Full-Time 

 

About the Role 

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Business Analyst to join our team for an exciting initiative supporting Maryland State Department applications. In this role, you will serve as a key liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams, helping translate business needs into impactful, user-centered solutions. 

 

You will collaborate closely with product owners, developers, UI/UX designers, QA teams, and state stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of modern, data-driven, and AI-enabled applications that improve operational efficiency and user experience. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

Requirements & Stakeholder Management 

  • Lead requirements for elicitation sessions with stakeholders and translate business needs into clear user stories, functional specifications, and acceptance criteria. 
  • Act as a trusted advisor to business partners, ensuring alignment between business objectives and technical delivery. 

Process Analysis & Optimization 

  • Analyze current business processes, identify gaps, and recommend data-driven and AI-enabled improvements to enhance efficiency and user experience. 
  • Develop process flows, gap analyses, and use cases to support solution design. 

Agile Delivery Support 

  • Actively participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies including Sprint Planning, Backlog Grooming, Daily Stand-ups, Reviews, and Retrospectives. 
  • Manage and refine product backlogs in Azure DevOps, ensuring stories are well-defined, prioritized, and ready for development. 
  • Support sprint execution by clarifying requirements, managing scope changes, and maintaining alignment across teams. 

Cross-Functional Collaboration 

  • Partner with UI/UX and development teams to help design intuitive, AI-driven interfaces and intelligent workflows. 
  • Collaborate with QA teams to define test scenarios, support UAT, and validate that delivered solutions meet business expectations. 

Performance & Documentation 

  • Define KPIs, success metrics, and business rules to measure product performance and value realization. 
  • Create and maintain key documentation including BRDs, user stories, process diagrams, sprint artifacts, and technical handoff materials. 

 

Required Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, Information Technology, or related field. 
  • 3+ years of experience in business analysis, project coordination, or similar roles. 
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to gather requirements, evaluate data, and propose practical solutions. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience working across cross-functional teams and stakeholders. 
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Hands-on experience with project and delivery tools such as Azure DevOps, JIRA, MS Project, and MS Visio. 
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to quality and accuracy. 

 

Nice to Have 

  • Agile certifications such as CSM or SAFe. 
  • Familiarity with ADA regulations and web accessibility standards. 
  • Experience supporting accessibility testing and compliance validation.
