Engagement Coordinator
About the Role
Global Liver Institute (GLI) is seeking an Engagement Coordinator to support and execute programs that elevate patient and community voices across the liver health landscape. This role sits at the intersection of patient advocacy, healthcare, and policy and plays a key part in strengthening GLI’s national and global engagement efforts.
The coordinator will manage community-facing initiatives, support cross-functional workflows, and help deepen relationships with patients, advocates, clinicians, and partners. This is an ideal opportunity for a mission-driven professional with experience in public health, nonprofit engagement, or healthcare advocacy who is ready to take ownership of projects and grow within a dynamic organization.

Position Summary
The Engagement Coordinator supports the planning, coordination, and execution of the Global Liver Institute’s full portfolio of engagement initiatives. This includes, but is not limited to, the Advanced Advocacy Academy (A3), both domestic and global cohorts, Liver Health Symposium, the Liver Action Network (LAN), and GLI’s education, outreach, and community engagement campaigns and events.
This role is central to advancing GLI’s mission to build patient and advocate capacity, strengthen grassroots leadership, and elevate community-driven solutions in liver health policy and care. The Engagement Coordinator works collaboratively across departments while also operating independently with strong judgment, initiative, and follow-through.
The ideal candidate is organized and self-directed, able to think critically and solve problems, while grounding their work in compassionate, patient-centered values. This is a relationship-driven role requiring professionalism, cultural competency, and a deep respect for the lived experience of patients and caregivers.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
Program & Event Execution
- Coordinate and execute engagement initiatives, including the Advanced Advocacy Academy (U.S. and global cohorts), Liver Action Network activities, educational programs, awareness campaigns, and community events (virtual and in-person).
- Manage logistics, stakeholder communications, materials preparation, and follow-up to ensure high-quality delivery.
- Organize and facilitate meetings, webinars, roundtables, and community forums.
- Support patient and caregiver programming, including peer engagement initiatives.
Stakeholder Engagement & Partnerships
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with patients, caregivers, advocates, and institutional partners.
- Identify and cultivate partnership opportunities at community, national, and global levels.
- Support grassroots organizing efforts to advance liver health policy and systems change.
Strategy, Systems & Operations
- Contribute to implementation of GLI’s engagement strategy and track progress against key milestones.
- Maintain accurate records across systems (CRM, contracts, grants, and contact databases).
- Support communications efforts, including newsletters, email campaigns, and event materials.
- Utilize tools such as Asana, Salesforce, Salsa, Canva, and Google Workspace to streamline workflows.
- Contribute to special projects and emerging organizational priorities as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Health Policy, Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, Community Health, Social Work, Communications, Political Science, or related field preferred.
- Experience planning and executing educational programs, trainings, conferences, or community events (nonprofit, healthcare, advocacy, or patient organization experience preferred).
- Experience coordinating groups or cohorts, including recruitment, facilitation, and retention.
Knowledge, Skills & Attributes
- Highly organized and self-directed, with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to compassionate, patient-centered engagement.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (Spanish proficiency a plus).
- Strong time management, attention to detail, and comfort in a fast-paced nonprofit environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, and CRM/project management systems.
- Demonstrated cultural competency and ability to work effectively across diverse communities.

- Annual Salary Range: $55,000-$60,000
