About Built From The Block

Built From The Block (BFTB) is a Detroit-based apparel brand founded by Corey Johnson and led operationally by Tammy Black, COO.

Our mission is to build a confidence-driven brand designed for every culture, every body, and every voice.

We are currently preparing for upcoming seasonal product drops (hoodies, T-shirts, hats) and are seeking a motivated student to support content creation, growth strategy, and brand expansion.

Position Overview

The Content & Growth Partner will work directly with the Founder and COO to support marketing strategy, digital growth, and seasonal drop campaigns.

This role is ideal for a marketing, communications, digital media, or business student seeking real-world brand-building experience with measurable impact.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute social media content strategies
• Assist with seasonal drop marketing campaigns
• Create and manage content calendars
• Draft captions and short-form marketing copy
• Support photo and video content planning
• Track engagement, reach, and conversion metrics
• Analyze campaign performance and provide growth recommendations
• Identify potential influencers or community partnerships
• Assist with brand storytelling initiatives

Required Skills

• Strong understanding of Instagram, TikTok, and emerging platforms
• Basic knowledge of social media analytics
• Ability to think strategically about audience growth
• Strong written communication skills
• Organized and deadline-driven
• Comfortable working in a startup-style environment
• Self-motivated with ability to work independently

Preferred Skills (Not Required)

• Experience running or managing a social media account
• Basic graphic design knowledge (Canva, Adobe, CapCut, etc.)
• Experience with short-form video editing
• Familiarity with streetwear or apparel branding
• Understanding of drop-based marketing

Minimum Requirements

• Currently enrolled at Wayne State University
• Junior, Senior, or Graduate student preferred
• Major in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, Business, or related field
• Ability to commit 8–12 hours per week
• Available to attend virtual or occasional in-person strategy meetings
