Market Research & Strategy Intern, Consumer
Does your curiosity drive you to think differently? Do you like to question the world around you? Are you interested in diving into and unpacking people’s stories?
If you’re nodding along, you’re likely to flourish in our 2026 Internship program.
Interning at Now What is a ~10 week walk in the shoes of current Now Whatters. Specifically, interns experience life at Now What through being a part of project teams, tackling client questions like “What is the future of fitness apparel?” or “How can we cultivate a culture of curiosity?” as well as working on internal projects within Now What, attending bi-weekly lunches and learns and being part of all cultural events and activities. TL;DR as an Intern, you are actually part of the team — you are not just grabbing virtual coffees and pushing paper.
During the program, all Interns are assigned to a mentor (a full-time Now Whatter) to answer any questions and to guide them throughout their time at Now What. At the start of each internship, all Interns will have an official kickoff meeting to set personal & professional goals with their mentor and maintain regular check-ins throughout the program.
THE DETAILS:
- All Interns work on a mix of external and internal Now What projects
- Interns will be exposed to primary research projects across a range of methodologies, with some exposure to strategy projects
- All Interns have a mid-internship check-in and an end-of-internship reflection
- Interns are expected to work 40-hrs a week, and be able to come into the Brooklyn office at least 3 days a week (Tuesday–Thursday), but may be more often depending on project needs. NOTE: the first day of the program is expected to be an in-office day
- Compensation will be $20 per hour with the intention of working 40 hours most weeks
YOU’RE RIGHT FOR THIS PROGRAM IF:
- You’re a pro at expressing complex ideas in a simplistic, human way, without omitting the nuances.
- You know the foundations of storytelling, which comes to life in your communications.
- You roll with the ups and downs of project workloads, which can vary day to day. When you’re available, you don’t hesitate to jump in and lend a helping hand—even if you’re not 100% confident, it’s your first time in this kind of role, or your first experience working for a small agency.
- You’re ready to work alongside your mentor to learn the ropes and understand what it takes to be part of this industry.
- You take ownership of your tasks and strive to leave a positive mark on anything you do, big or small.
- You’re always trying to think outside the box and flex your creative side.
- You take your work seriously, but you don’t take yourself too seriously.

About Now What:
Now What is a global insight, innovation, and strategy partner to the world’s most iconic and influential companies. We take on their complex, left-brain-won’t-fix-it questions about people, culture, brands, behavior, and the future that completely change the game when you crack them.
We work and play in DUMBO, NYC, in a light-filled, creative space. Our team gathers in the office Tuesdays–Thursdays each week, and tends to work from home Mondays and Friday (but you’re welcome to work from the office those days too, if you prefer).
We believe in the power of curiosity.
Curiosity is our job. It turns wonder into understanding, and understanding into real connection. It helps teams adapt, grow, and spot opportunities others miss. We’re a community of relentlessly curious minds, and we fight for curiosity because the future belongs to the people willing to question it.
In this role, you’ll ignite expansive thinking. That means going deeper and sideways: challenging convention, testing assumptions, exploring unexpected perspectives, and imagining alternative futures until new strategic options appear.
Our goal is simple: make curiosity the ultimate strategic superpower. Not as a personality trait, but as a disciplined practice that delivers game-changing results.
How we show up:
Our values reflect our curiosity styles:
- Courageous like the Rebel, asking “why?”
- Playful like the Inner Child, asking “why not?”
- Instinctive like the Voyager, searching for what’s missing
- Visionary like the Tinkerer, building a better way
How to apply for the program:
To apply, please send your resume and answer to the following prompt to hiring@nowwhat.com with your name and position title (in full) in the subject line
- Your resume
- A response to the following prompt in whatever format you choose (A Word doc, PowerPoint or Keynote slides, a video!)
- Now What believes in the power of curiosity to unlock unexpected solutions. What role does curiosity play in the way you approach problems? You can answer this through any creative means that best suit you (i.e., writing, image collage, video, etc.)
NOTE: We are NOT looking for a standard cover letter—we want to see YOU come to life through our screens! At Now What, we value people’s individuality and unique backgrounds, which can’t always be expressed through the standard corporate jargon. This also means we will be screening for any use of artificial intelligence as part of your submission materials.
